Today I’ll talk about a real jewel of the Maremma surrounded by nature, the beautiful town of Massa Marittima.

We suggest you start your visit from the historical center of Massa Marittima, more precisely from Piazza Garibaldi, you will find in front of you the Cathedral of San Cerbone, built from the eleventh century, inside it contains some treasures of historical art like the Madonna col bambino attributed to Duccio Di Boninsegna. At the Cathedral side you will see in front of you the Palazzo del Vescovado, restructured in 1914, and in the same square you can admire the Palazzo Pretorio, also known as Palazzo del Podesta, ancient residence of the Podestà in which still stand out coats of arms on the facade, It was the centerpiece of the legislative and judicial power of Massa Marittima.
Continuing your walk, we suggest that you reach Piazza Mazzini to see a real gem of Massa Marittima: The Fonte dell’ Abbondanza and the beautiful fresco of Albero della Fecondità returned visible after having been recently restored.

A short distance from Massa Marittima is the Archaeological Park of the Lake of Accesa, surrounded by nature and in front of the picturesque lake you can visit the living quarters and the Etruscan necropolis.

Tread the Autostrada del Sole A1 direction Bologna to Parma, continue on highway A15, follow the direction Genova – Livorno, take Highway A12 direction Rome to Rosignano Marittimo, take the SS 1 Aurelia in direction Rome, exit at Follonica Est, continue on SS 439 until you get to Massa Marittima.
From Florence
Tread the Autostrada del Sole A1, exit at Firenze Certosa, continue on the highway RA3, exit at Colle di Val d’Elsa Sud, take the SS 73 Senese Aretina, continue on SS 439 until you get to Massa Marittima.
From Rome
Take the A12 highway, in direction of Civitavecchia, continue on SS 1 Aurelia in direction of Grosseto, exit at Scarlino, continue on SS 439 until you get to Massa Marittima.
